Why the Potential Room exists
Many adults spend years caring for others whilst struggling to find space for themselves.
Life becomes busy. Responsibilities grow. Needs are pushed aside.
The Potential Room was created to offer something different: a space where people can pause long enough to hear themselves again.
We believe nobody should have to wait until things feel overwhelming before they access support, connection, or opportunities for growth.
Our Vision
A future where every adult has the time, space and support to reconnect with themselves, build meaningful connections and thrive.
Our Mission
We create accessible, inclusive spaces where adults can pause, reflect and reconnect with themselves and others. Through guided reflection, practical wellbeing tools and shared learning experiences, we help people build self-awareness, confidence, resilience and a stronger sense of belonging.
Our Values
Belonging
Everyone deserves to feel welcomed, valued, and accepted.
Compassion
We meet people where they are with kindness and respect.
Curiosity
Growth begins when we create space to explore ourselves honestly.
Courage
Positive change often starts with a single brave step.
Hope
We believe positive growth is possible at every stage of life.
Our Approach
The missing middle
Many people are looking for support before challenges reach crisis point.
There are countless self-help resources available, and there are important professional services available when people need specialist support. But between those two sits a gap.
The Potential Room exists within that gap.
We offer accessible, community-based opportunities that combine guided reflection, practical wellbeing tools, meaningful connection, and personal growth in a non-clinical environment.
What guides our delivery:
Choice
Participants can pause, pass, listen or write privately.
Connection
People can learn alongside others without pressure to disclose.
Practicality
Activities are designed to support everyday wellbeing and personal growth.
Inclusion
We aim to reduce financial, access and confidence barriers.
Boundaries
We clearly explain what The Potential Room does and does not provide.
Our work complements, but does not replace, professional or specialist support.
Meet the founder
Nelita spent years looking for the right room.
The coaching room. The therapy room. The room where you perform having it together. None of them ever quite fit...so she built her own.
She built the room where you could work on yourself without needing to be in crisis. Where you could talk about confidence, boundaries, stress, identity, and all the messy bits of life, without having to fit neatly into one box.
She found pieces of it everywhere: in professional support, personal development, her career, the people around her. But something was always missing.
The space between “I’m fine” and “I need help.”
Growing up in a working-class, single-parent household in South Africa, and later building a life and career in the UK, Nelita learnt early how to adapt, keep going, and create opportunities for herself. She became a qualified accountant and built a career helping people and teams solve problems, develop, and move forward.
Along the way, she discovered something else.
Knowing what to do and actually being able to do it are two very different things.
You can know you need better boundaries and still struggle to say no. You can understand confidence and still find yourself shrinking in certain rooms. You can know all the right wellbeing advice and still need somewhere to stop, breathe, and work through what’s actually going on.
So Nelita stopped looking for the right room.
She decided to create one.
The Potential Room is that space in between — a community with different rooms for the different things life asks of us: to learn, to reflect, to connect, to regulate, or simply to pause.
No crisis required.
No perfect version of you required.
Just a space to pause. A room to grow.
