Safeguarding

Your safety matters here

The Potential Room is a space built on trust. Whether you're joining a Room, a workshop, or a community event, everyone who takes part deserves to feel safe, respected, and protected — and that's something we take seriously in everything we do.

We work with adults aged 18 and over. Vulnerability isn't always visible, and it isn't always permanent — a difficult season, a period of stress, or the kind of things that come up during reflection and journaling can affect anyone. Our facilitators are trained to stay attentive to this for every participant, not just those with a known additional need.

Our commitments

Every participant has the right to be protected from harm, neglect, and exploitation, regardless of their background or circumstances.

Concerns are always taken seriously, recorded, and acted on promptly and confidentially.

What's shared in a session stays in the room — but this never overrides our duty to act if someone's safety is at risk.

Anyone facilitating on our behalf receives safeguarding training and guidance before working with participants.

If you have a concern

If something doesn't feel right — for yourself or for someone else — please don't hesitate to reach out. You can:

Speak to a facilitator or Committee member directly during or after a session

Email our Designated Safeguarding Lead at safeguarding@thepotentialroom.org.uk

We'll listen without judgement, treat what you share with care and confidentiality, and only involve the people who need to know in order to keep everyone safe.

In an emergency

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, please call 999 first, before contacting us.

Confidentiality

Any concern raised with us is handled sensitively and in line with our Data Protection & Confidentiality Policy. Records are kept securely and shared only on a strict need-to-know basis.

This page is a summary of our approach to safeguarding. Our full Safeguarding Policy is available as part of our [Governance & Policy Pack] on request.
